Firstly, you may need to spray your waffle iron with a non-stick spray such as Pam. When the batter overflows and runs down the sides of the iron, it may indicate that you are using too much batter. Experiment next time with less batter and see if that helps. Trial and error may be your best solution here, but eventually, you will get it. Also, make sure the waffle maker is hot enough before pouring the batter on.

Should I use pancake mix to make my waffles?
